It is a great honour to perform again with the NHK

It is a great honour to perform again with the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo at their 100 year anniversary concert - this time as „The voice of God“. „Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln“ by Franz Schmidt is a terrifying work about the Apocalypse and having been composed between 1935-1937 just gives a glimpse of the terrors of the First World War, not to even think about how the world changed some years later.

Toitoitoi to @laurenz.michael as the evangelist John, the magnificent soloists Miho Sakoda, @asamifujii_mezzosoprano, Tatsundo Ito, Hirotaka Kato - and of course the chorus of the @newnationaltheatretokyo and the @nhk_symphony_orchestra_tokyo I am looking forward to hearing you from the organ balcony and enjoy the unique sound of this orchestra under the baton of @fabioluisiconductor
Happy 100th anniversary and thank you for having me with you at this special occasion! @machreichartists

Season 2026/27 is just around the corner — and I couldn't be more excited to share what's ahead.

It starts in September with two performances of Franz Schmidt's Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln with the @nhk_symphony_orchestra_tokyo Tokyo, conducted by @fabioluisiconductor A work I love deeply, in one of the world's great concert halls.

November takes me to Boston — Haydn's Creation with the @bostonsymphony under Philippe Jordan. My U.S. debut!

And then there's Zürich. I'll be returning to the @operzuerich as Fasolt in Das Rheingold — the house where I spent my time in the International Opera Studio, and where so much of my artistic life began. Returning to that stage feels like coming full circle.

Back in home @staatsoperstuttgart , what may be the centrepiece of my season: Hans Sachs in Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. A role debut — and one of the great characters in all of opera. A man of wisdom, warmth, wit and quiet sacrifice (and lots of text...) - I can't wait to dive into that world.

I'll also be stepping back into the shoes of Baron Ochs in Der Rosenkavalier — one of the roles closest to my heart, and one I never tire of.

In January and March: Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with the @berlinphil under Kirill Petrenko — in Berlin and at the @osterfestspielesalzburg. To crown the season, another favourite of mine: Mahler's Eighth symphony - this time in Toronto with the @torontosymphony under Gustavo Gimeno.

All dates via the link in my bio. See you in the theatre! 🎭
