Two weeks of concerts and supporting events this fall explore humanity’s exploration of the origins of our universe, part of the BSO’s ongoing exploration of artistic expressions of faith and spirituality. The Austrian composer Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) was the most famous and innovative composer of his time. He composed his Creation oratorio for vocal soloists, chorus, and orchestra late in his life. Based on the creation story from the biblical book of Genesis, The Creation is a masterwork of extraordinary musical imagination. Complementing Haydn’s oratorio in our next orchestral concerts is composer Osvaldo Golijov and David Henry Hwang’s BSO-commissioned Creation, which approaches the theme through a multicultural and multidisciplinary lens.
